 Biography of His Excellency. Mir Rahman Rahmani Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (House of People) National Assembly of Afghanistan

His Excellency Mr. Mir Rahman Rahmani s/o Alhaaj Qalandar Khan was born in 1962, in Bagram district of Parwan Province. After completing his High School in Bagram, he joined Military University and graduated in 1982. He is a happily married man with One (1) Son and Four (4) daughters and live in Kabul, Afghanistan

After the fall of the Taliban regime he was appointed as the Head of Social Council of Bagram People and then he served in the ranks of Afghan National Army reaching to the rank of General. Later, in 2008 Mr. Rahmani served as Chairman of Parwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry while helping and promoting business and economic activities as well.

 In 2010, Mr. Rahmani contested parliamentary elections from Parwan Province, and was honored to represent the people of Parwan in the Wolesi Jirga (House of People) National Assembly of Afghanistan, acquiring one of the highest votes. While in the parliament he served as Chairman of National Economic Commission from 2010 to 2018. On December 2011, Mr. Rahmani represented Afghanistan in "Afghanistan: The Bonn II Conference" in Bonn, Germany.

In 2019, Mr. Rahmani was re-elected as member of the Wolesi Jirga (House of People) with yet another highest majority of votes from Parwan Province and presented himself to serve as the Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (House of People). Mr. Rahmani was elected by the members of the House to serve as the Speaker for a period of Five (5) years by gaining the yet another highest votes (136 Votes).

Currently, Mr. Rahmani serves as Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (House of People) in the 17th Term of the Wolesi Jirga (House of People) National Assembly of Afghanistan.
