Personal background: Hameedullah Tukhi was born in 1963 in Qalat district, Zabul province. He is married with eight daughters and five sons. His interests include social activities and participating in local gatherings. He speaks Pashto and Dari.

Education: Turkhi studied at the Shaikh Mati High School in Zabul and graduated in 1978.

Previous occupation: Tukhi was a jihadi commander during the war years. He was later appointed to the position of governor of Zabul province for two years (2002-2004) and governor of Wardak province for three months in 2004.

2005 Parliament: Tukhi was elected to parliament in 2005 with 2,134 votes. He was a member of the Internal Affairs commission during this term.

Other information: Tukhi was disqualified as a result of Electoral Complaints Commission investigations. He later replaced Habibullah Andiwal as an MP for Zabul province in August 2011.
