Personal background: Sediqa Mubariz daughter of Hussain Bakhsh was born in 1970 in Chandilwel district, Kabul province. Her family is originally from Behsud district in Wardak. She is married with three sons and five daughters. Mubariz is interested in reading. She speaks Dari, Pashto and some English.

Education: Mubariz completed her education at Hazrat Khadija and Nargisia High Schools in Iran in 1997. She received her bachelor’s degree in Administration and Management from Payam Noor University in Iran in 2003. She is currently studying Political Science and International Relations at Kateb University.

Civil society/NGO connections: She participated in cultural and social activities while in Iran and after returning to Kabul. She was the chief editor of the Hajar publication, exclusively for women, and she is the founder of schools for Afghan refugee children in Iran.

Previous occupation: When she was very young, Mubariz’s family immigrated to Iran and stayed there for more than 30 years. Mubariz was head of the Women’s Affairs Commission in Iran.

2005 Parliament: Mubariz was elected to parliament in 2005 with 4,763 votes. She served as secretary of the Health commission during this term.
