background:
Alhaj Zefnoon Safi, daughter of Ahmad Jan, was born in 1971 in Nanakzai village
in the center of Laghman province. She is married and has seven children. She
is interested in reading. Her first language is Pashto and she speaks English
and Urdu as well.
Education:
Safi
graduated from Mastoora High School in Laghman in 1989. She earned her
fourteenth class certificate from the Teacher Training Institute of Laghman in
1996.
Civil
society/NGO connections: Safi volunteered with the United Nations Assistance
Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in the area of women’s affairs.
Previous
occupation: From
1989-1996, Safi worked as a teacher at Mastoora High School in Laghman. From
2002-2005, she served as head of the Women’s Affairs Department in Laghman
province. She was also a provincial trainer for the Women’s Fast Learning
Program at the Afghanistan Development Association (ADA).
