Personal background: Fawzia Nasiryar Guldaraye, daughter of Ghulam Dastagir, was born in 1970 in the Guldara district of Kabul province. She is married and has four children. She has traveled to Tajikistan, Turkey, Finland and the United Arab Emirates. Her interests are in reading, sports and music. Her first language is Dari; she also speaks Pashto and English.

Education: Guldaraye graduated from the Ayesha Durani High School of Kabul in 1984. In 1991, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Kabul University.

Civil society/NGO connections: Guldaraye lived in Tajikistan for a few years, during which time she was able to continue participating in cultural and social activities, working as a teacher and running an an association for Afghan immigrants in Tajikistan.

Previous occupation: Guldaraye worked at the Afsotar transportation company for over 10 years and then as the office deputy of Parwaz Magazine. She has also been a teacher at the Bibi Maryam High School in Takhar province.
